With over 350 guests in attendance at the 2021 Howl-O-Ween Ball, held on Friday, October 29, supporters of Houston SPCA raised over $1 million for animals in need. Thanks to every donation from generous donors, we are prepared to continue our mission into 2022 saving animals from abuse and neglect, serving our community to keep more pets in homes, and responding quickly in times of disaster.

Setting the Scene for the Howl-O-Ween Ball
Upon arrival, the decor wowed guests clad in a mixture of Halloween costumes and cocktail attire.
Watch below as Bergner & Johnson transforms the arena! Every day, the sandy workspace is where our staff rehabilitates horses before adoption. After they worked their magic, it was made into the elegantly spooky backdrop for the magical evening.
During the cocktail hour, guests sipped on libations and noshed on hors d’oeuvres while perusing the silent auction. A $2,000 Neiman Marcus shopping spree, a silkscreen “We Will Rise Again” print from the George Rodrigue Foundation for the Arts, and two tickets to the Santana + Earth, Wind & Fire: Miraculous Supernatural Tour and a meet and greet with the legendary group after the show were all a part of the evening’s sought after items.
The Houston SPCA Barn and surrounding paddocks were also open to guests to browse. Greeted by rescued equines, guests could view details of their cases. In addition, they could pick the brains of the Animal Cruelty Investigations team.
Dinner and Dancing
Theatre Under the Stars students took the guests by surprise! They crept onto the dance floor for three dance performances throughout the evening. The night kicked off with Michael Jackson’s “Thriller,” and the next was a take on The Addams Family theme song. The kids wowed the audience with the finale “Monster Mash.”
Dinner, which City Kitchen catered, began with a Boston Bibb wedge salad with red and golden beets, toasted pistachios, and white vinaigrette dressing. For the main course, guests enjoyed an option of pan-seared chicken breast with chardonnay-thyme glace, a smashed red bliss potato cake with scallions, and rainbow baby carrots. They could also select grilled eggplant roulade stuffed with portobello mushrooms. Dessert was a choice between warm chocolate fondant with pistachio crème anglaise, toffee, vanilla ice cream, and shortbread, or vegan chocolate, avocado, and zucchini mousse with fresh berries.
Honored Guests
Serving as honorees were Linda McIngvale as community honoree. Mission Honorees included Westbury Animal Hospital along with Jennifer Schechter Rosen and Harris County Precinct One Constable Alan Rosen. KHOU TV-11 served as media honoree. KHOU news anchor Kimberly Davis served as emcee.
Franco Valobra also took the stage, announcing Lauren and Pat Sullivan as the winners of the coveted earrings.
As guests finished dessert, they watched a short video highlighting the mission of the Houston SPCA, and then the live auction began!

The fun didn’t stop after the delicious dinner, record-breaking live auction, and lively dance party. After that, guests made their way over to the Adoption Center After Party. Puppy playtime, coffee, cocktails, and dessert were on the agenda.
