What is the Houston SPCA and what do you do?
The Houston Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (Houston SPCA) was established in 1924, and is one of the leading animal rescue and protection organizations in the country. We help more nearly 45,000 animals each year, including cats and dogs; horses and farm animals; small pets; native wildlife and even exotics. We are a private, non-profit charity, funded entirely by donations, and receive no funding from the government, United Way or other animal groups.
Where are you located?

How can I find out if an animal is still available for adoption?
All of our adoptable animals
are featured in real time on our website. If the animal you are interested in is still featured, he or she is still available for adoption. All adoptions are on a first-come basis by appointment only. Due to the high volume of requests we receive, we are unable to maintain a “match” list nor can we hold an animal for a potential adopter.
I can't keep my pet anymore. Can I bring him or her to the Houston SPCA?
The Rehoming Center is open by appointment only seven days a week from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM. There is a $10 non-refundable, appointment fee and appointments are subject to availability. Please note, we do not humanely euthanize animals for space or at the end of a certain time period. Appointments cannot be made online, so please call (713) 869-7722 between 8:30 AM and 5:00 PM for scheduling. If you require immediate assistance, please contact the tax-funded, municipal animal control agency for your area.
