How can I make a donation?
The Houston SPCA relies solely on donations and they are always appreciated. A donation can be made securely online or by mail. Checks can be mailed to Houston SPCA, 7007 Old Katy Road, Houston, TX 77024. ATTN: Development
What is the Houston SPCA and what do you do?
The Houston Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (Houston SPCA) was established in 1924, and is one of the leading animal rescue and protection organizations in the country. We help more nearly 45,000 animals each year, including cats and dogs; horses and farm animals; small pets; native wildlife and even exotics. We are a private, non-profit charity, funded entirely by donations, and receive no funding from the government, United Way or other animal groups.
Where are you located?
The Houston SPCA is located at 7007 Old Katy Road, Houston, TX 77024, near the Heights and Memorial Park. Our main number is 713-869-7722.
Where can I see all the adoptable animals?
The Houston SPCA is open for adoptions every day from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. No appointment is necessary and there is no waitlist. We kindly request visitors who are not vaccinated to please wear a mask. Click here for more information on adopting from the Houston SPCA or to see our available animals.
What do you consider an "owned" animal?
We consider an animal that has been in your care for more than 3 days an owned animal.
Will you pick up an uninjured stray animal?
We only rescue injured animals with our rescue ambulance. Both the city and county utilize tax dollars to pick up uninjured strays.
Do you accept stray animals?
We encourage people to take stray animals to the appropriate animal control agency for their area. We do rescue injured unowned animals through our injured animal rescue ambulance service. If you see an injured, trapped, distressed, or orphaned animal, please call 713-880-HELP.
Do you receive tax dollars?
No, we rely solely on donations and do not receive funds from any other animal welfare organization.

If you suspect animal cruelty, please call 713-869-SPCA or file a report online.
How can I find out if an animal is still available for adoption?
All of our adoptable animals are featured in real time on our website. If the animal you are interested in is still featured, he or she is still available for adoption. All adoptions are on a first-come basis by appointment only. Due to the high volume of requests we receive, we are unable to maintain a “match” list nor can we hold an animal for a potential adopter.
I can't keep my pet anymore. Can I bring him or her to the Houston SPCA?
The Rehoming Center is open by appointment only seven days a week from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM. There is a $10 non-refundable, appointment fee and appointments are subject to availability. Please note, we do not humanely euthanize animals for space or at the end of a certain time period. Appointments cannot be made online, so please call (713) 869-7722 between 8:30 AM and 5:00 PM for scheduling. If you require immediate assistance, please contact the tax-funded, municipal animal control agency for your area.
