Did you know? Animal shelters across the country, including the Houston SPCA, are not affiliated with the ASPCA (the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals), which is headquartered in New York City. Instead, shelters like us operate independently and rely heavily on local donations.
Recently, CBS This Morning released an investigative report into the ASPCA’s fundraising practices and how donor dollars are used. While many people believe that the ASPCA funds local shelters like Houston SPCA, no SPCA across the country is part of the ASPCA organization.
The Houston SPCA relies 100% on donations from our community and does not receive any tax dollars for our lifesaving work. As an exceptional, 4-star rated charity with Charity Navigator, we promise that your donations are used in the most impactful way possible to save lives. We encourage you to watch the investigative report to ensure your donor dollars are going exactly where you want them to go.
