On Sunday and Monday, the Houston SPCA, in collaboration with the Houston County Sheriff’s Office, traveled to Crocket, Texas, following reports of 16 severely emaciated dogs abandoned two weeks ago.
Officials with HCSO reached out to Houston SPCA for assistance with the animals. All abandoned dogs will undergo individualized treatment at the Houston SPCA’s animal hospital. Once treatment is complete, each dog will go into a Foster Family for healing.
Subjecting animals to these life-threatening conditions is animal cruelty and is a felony in Texas, punishable by up to two years in prison and a $10,000 fine.
The Houston SPCA’s mission extends beyond rescue and rehabilitation; it includes education and advocacy. If you suspect animal cruelty or abandonment is happening, please reach out. Call 713.869.722 or file a report HERE.
