15 Matted Dogs Rescued from Hoarding Case

(March 18, 2025)

This afternoon, the Houston SPCA rescued 15 dogs living in heartbreaking conditions located near the 12,000 block of Dairy Brook Drive in Southwest Houston. Even before stepping inside, the scene was troubling—debris and trash littered the property. Inside, the reality was shocking. The air was thick with the stench of filth, and feces, urine, and clutter filled the small living spaces where these 15 dogs had been cruelly confined. Their suffering was undeniable. Matted, covered in dirt, and barely clinging to their spirits, they had been neglected for quite a while.

Thankfully, their story took a turn today. The property owner surrendered the dogs to the Houston SPCA, and our Animal Cruelty Investigators quickly transported them to safety. Now finally free from their former confinement, their journey to healing is just beginning.

At our campus, Texas A&M Veterinary students wasted no time, performing intake exams and assessing each dog’s immediate medical needs. Their care will extend far beyond the physical—these dogs will need patience, compassion, and time to rediscover trust.

Cases like this serve as a powerful reminder of the urgent need to combat animal cruelty and hoarding. If you ever suspect an animal is suffering in silence, don’t wait. Report neglect and abuse to 713-869-7722 or upload photos and videos at HoustonSPCA.org. Every report has the potential to change, or even save, a life.
