WATCH LIVE: New Mom ‘Juno’ Welcomes Baby Piglet

Mother pig Juno nurses three baby piglets

(January 20, 2022)

A pregnant Vietnamese potbelly pig named Juno was rescued by the Houston SPCA last December and has been very busy lately preparing for the birth of her piglets. She gave birth to three healthy piglets on the evening of January 20. Staff has been busy checking on her and the babies to ensure their health. Animal lovers continue to stop by her livestream to see how the mother and her new babies are doing.

Viewers can watch Juno 12 hours a day on the Houston SPCA YouTube Channel. Staff members come by her stall to say hello with treats. Also, our veterinary staff continues to watch her closely. Juno is enjoying fresh fruit and feeding time as she cares for her piglets.

Staff also styled and posed her for her very own maternity session just in time for her babies to arrive!

Juno’s name has a Latin origin that means Goddess of Love, Marriage, and Childbirth. She was rescued by the Houston SPCA on December 30, 2021, when her former owner was unable to provide the necessary care for the potbelly. Juno has created quite a buzz for Houston SPCA staff and animal lovers in the area.
