Springtime means longer days, blooming flowers, and—most importantly—a surge of baby animals in need of help. At Houston SPCA, Baby Season is in full swing, bringing in countless puppies, kittens, and young wildlife who require specialized care. Our team, alongside the experts at the Houston SPCA’s Wildlife Center, is dedicated to giving them the individualized attention they deserve.
Every year, Houston SPCA prepares for an influx of newborn and young animals who arrive hungry, weak, and in need of medical support. Many of these animals are alone, orphaned, or struggling. Whether it’s a litter of puppies rescued from a dangerous situation, a nest of baby squirrels blown from a tree during a storm, or a fragile songbird in need of care, each one depends on us for survival.
Supplies like formula, medical supplies, heating pads, and soft bedding are crucial in providing warmth, nourishment, and comfort to these tiny rescues. Our Baby Registry makes it easy for our supporters, like you, to give directly to the animals who need it most.
We are dedicated to providing individualized care for baby animals of many species.
For Puppies and Kittens – Our team provides bottle feedings, round-the-clock care, and medical attention to help these young pets grow strong enough for adoption.
For Wildlife – The Houston SPCA’s Wildlife Center specializes in rehabilitating young wild animals, ensuring they develop the skills needed to return to their natural habitats. With spring in full swing, we are already seeing an increase in orphaned squirrels, baby opossums, and young birds—and soon, even more wildlife will be arriving in large numbers.
Each rescue is unique, and our teams work tirelessly to provide the right nutrition, medical treatment, and safe environments for them to grow and heal.
