Critter Camp: The Ultimate Summer Adventure for Animal-Loving Kids

Summer is a time for adventure, learning, and making memories that last a lifetime.  Houston SPCA is proud to offer Critter Camp for kids excited to learn more about the world of animal welfare at our Campus For All Animals. Whether they dream of becoming a veterinarian, want to learn about animal rescue and rehabilitation, or simply love spending time with animals, Critter Camp is the perfect educational experience. See what last year’s Critter Camp held for Campers:

Each week-long camp offers a different theme, such as Vet Camp, Animal Rescue and Forensics, and Jr. Pet Pals. Our programs are offered to kids from 3rd grade to 8th grade. Kids will gain hands-on experience in animal care while learning from real-life professionals, including veterinarians, cruelty investigators, ambulance rescue teams, and wildlife specialists. To top it off, daily animal interactions with adoptable pets make the experience even more unforgettable!

As of the end of February, there are still spots available, and already two of the nine weeks are sold out. Critter Camp is one of Houston’s most in-demand summer experiences, and it’s easy to see why. What makes it even more special is our commitment to making it accessible to every young animal advocate, regardless of economic challenges. Thanks to our need-based scholarship program, provided by a generous donor, we have been able to give deserving students the opportunity to attend Critter Camp over the past five years. In 2025, we’re thrilled to offer scholarships to students who are eager to learn about animal welfare but may not have the means to attend. Applications for the scholarship program open on March 3, and we can’t wait to welcome a new group of future animal advocates.

If your child is passionate about animals, Critter Camp is more than just a summer program—it’s a chance to explore, engage, and be inspired. Mark your calendar for Monday, June 2, when camp kicks off, and join us for a summer full of discovery at the Carruth Education Center on the Houston SPCA campus.
