A Houston SPCA Animal Cruelty Investigator and Constables from Harris County Precinct 1 rescued a 2-year-old Siberian husky mix at a north Houston home after the owner was caught on video abusing her dog.
The video shows the owner kicking the husky before punching him multiple times. She then picks up the dog aggressively by one of his ears and neck as she lunges toward the person recording the incident. A young child in the video who witnessed the beating is visibly upset and pleading for her to stop the abuse. Their face has been blurred and video muted to protect their identity.
Harris County Constables from Precinct 1 served the warrant on Monday, allowing the Houston SPCA to immediately rescue the husky and bring him to their campus for a veterinary and animal cruelty exam. Houston SPCA veterinarian Dr. Willie Graham found the dog to be emaciated and underweight.
The owner could face up to two years in prison and a $10,000 fine for animal cruelty. The Houston SPCA’s 10-member animal cruelty investigations team works very closely with local law enforcement in and around the greater Houston area to end cruelty including Harris County Constable Precinct 1, HPD, and nine other surrounding Texas counties.
